FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Q: What about installing the system?
A: The systems are not that hard to install, so any RV technician would be able to do it or if you are a handyman you could do it. I would be able to help talk you through it because I have installed 100s of systems.
Q: Can I watch two different channels at the same time.
A: If you have one satellite receiver then you can only get one channel at a time. If you have a video switch box installed in your RV then you would be able to watch two different channels but they would be coming from two sources. For example, a satellite and antenna.
Q: Can I get local channels?
A: DirecTV now offers local channels. Go to DirecTV, to see if your city is on the list. If DirecTV knows that you are using their services in an RV they will not sell you the local channels, so you need to be careful as to what they know. However, as an RV'er you can get a waiver from DirecTV that would qualify you to get the network channels from either New York and/or Los Angeles. Call DirecTV at 1800DIRECTV and request the waiver.
Q: Which system is best for me?
A: Like I always say to people it is easy for me to spend your money, and I always recommend the best made system for any application and they tend to cost the most money. So, you would need to ask yourself what are my needs? Manual versus Automatic or In-Motion versus Automatic. Call me at 619-229-9284, for more details.
Q: How do the different systems compare to each other?
A: As a rule of thumb you can bet that the more money it cost to make the unit the more it will cost to buy. I have my opinions of which systems I like the best and I base it on the service that is required to keep the systems up and running. If you are interested in hearing what I have to say about the different systems call me at 619-229-9284.
Q: What about DIRECTV versus DISH NETWORK?
A: I strongly recommend the DirecTV system because they work much better with the Automatic units or the In-Motion systems. In most cases you cannot use a DISH receiver because it does not have a data port connection on the back of the receiver to hook up to the motorized dish for self tracking. If you go with a manual or semi-automatic system it does not matter because you are the one moving the dish to the target.
